DESCRIPTION
RNA-PrepZOL (R0010) is used in total RNA extraction of cells, bacteria and tissue and is ready to use. The resulting RNA is free of DNA and proteins. It can be used in Real Time PCR analysis, Northern Blot, Dot Blot hybridization, poly (A)+ molecular cloning selection, RNase protection assay and in vitro translation.
During sample homogenization or lysis, RNA-PrepZOL maintains RNA integrity. Adding chloroform after centrifugation separates the solution in an aqueous phase and an organic phase. RNA remains exclusively in the aqueous phase and is recovered by means of precipitation with isopropanol. After removing the aqueous phase, the DNA and proteins in the sample can be recovered by means of sequential precipitation. Precipitation with ethanol enables DNA extraction from the interphase and, with an additional precipitation with isopropanol, the organic phase proteins can be obtained.
Using RNA-PrepZOL, a small amount of tissue (50-100mg) or cells (5x106) can be used or a larger amount of cells and tissue of different sources: human, animal, plant or bacteria.
Applying this method, many samples can be processed at the same time and the whole process does not take more than 1 hour.
